Yes, Simon is partly deaf in his left ear from when he was smuggled from Ferelden, he got beaten when his father escaped their transport and slavers thought he had something to do with it. So Simon is unable to hear a lot out of his ear when he has his hair down, it's why he keeps it half braided.

Few things about my boi, Simon, that isn't know such as him being heterochromic, his hair is unique because he's partly deaf in his left ear (thus the half braids) and his scars on his face and neck are self inflicted to look skull like.

There's quite a few places that Simon has come to like as his favorite; Arlathan, Treviso, even Minrathous has its charm for him. But he actually likes being in the fade along the cross roads.
