Amelia prefers medium armour. As a Crow, she wants something that's a bit more robust for combat. Even though she's a mage, she considers herself a rogue & only uses magic to supplement her blade work, so she needs something tough for melee fighting.

Kalais prefers light armour that's a combo of leather & fabric. He likes to be able to move fast & unrestricted. Wears Jumper's Deft Leathers.
Ves prefers medium armour: quilted fabric, quilted leather & a few ironbark (or metal) plates. Wears Prowler Armour in DAI & Dalish armour before & after.

Portia likes thin armor - gives her far more flexibility for the somatic elements of her magic. She also runs rather cold and while metal can retain heat it can also keep her more frigid. Her preferred outfit is no armor at all but she is practical when she needs to be.

I always put the Jumper’s Daft Leathers on Zea. I absolutely love them on her and they look very practical as well for her as a rogue. Easy to move in and won’t get in the way while fighting. I also recently discovered the Harellan's Bolts and I HC that’s her “final battle” armor.

#WardenTabris Alessandra tried heavy armor and felt too restricted by it, but once she removed some plates she was much more comfortable. While she does mostly prefer medium armor, once she puts on some muscle over several months into the campaign, she'll turtle up again when she really needs it

Aedan is typically full heavy armor or something like a half plate! He's got his heavy Warden-Constable armor, a lighter armor he wears on adventures with Morrigan, and then I give him a heavy war armor in DAV

Marcus is a mage, he would prefer something light and comfortable which doesn't prevent him from moving around quickly. A heavy armour would slow him down. It should also look good. If he dies, he wants to die in fashion.

Vallira is adaptable for the most part. No armor works just as well as heavy armor, though both require different tactics in battle (of which she is well versed.)
The only thing is she refuses to wear boots/shoes of any kind. She is always barefoot.
