Marcus is a Shadow Dragon, but he saved Treviso. He had hope in the Tevinter army and the floating palace shooting laser. But Treviso was defenseless and this is why he chose to go there. This is something that gave him lots of nightmares but if he had to choose again, he would still pick Treviso.
