Dad. ATX Tejano. Educator. UT Social Studies PhD student. I mostly talk about teaching/transit or Austin FC 💚🖤 #VHLM this is a digital journal I hope my kiddo sees one day
Troubling world we live in, hard to have hope sometimes. Our community plays a strong role in maintaining some semblance of emotional balance but even that avenue hasn’t filled the cup as of late. Even then, a constant source for hope (for me) is seeing the world through my kid’s eyes. Love u, dude😎

Enjoy the bbq and the metro red line!

Not sure why it’s just hitting me that the year 2000 was almost 30 years ago. Anyway here’s a building in downtown ATX with an incredible amount of detail shadowed by a lifeless glass monstrosity

I have written and deleted a lot of posts but I keep thinking about how the brutal assassination of Minnesota State senator Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their beloved dog Gilbert in June did not prompt this same level of calls for empathy, sympathy, and flags at half-mast.

Elizabeth Warren on people who say Dems needs to tone down their rhetoric: "Oh, please. Why don't you start with the president of the United States? And every ugly meme he's posted and every ugly word."

Jingles play a giant role in my childhood memories and I’m not sure if I’m cool with that or not. Not that young Pedro was scheming for a capitalist hegemony or anything but YOU listen to the schlitterbahn or furniture factory warehouse or o’reilly’s songs and tell me that shit ain’t catchy

Mark Penn, the former Clinton-era Dem pollster now helping Cuomo, has advised Trump on how to beat Mamdani.

And Trump has also talked to Cuomo directly: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/06/n...

After avoiding it during the primary, Andrew Cuomo finally went on the Brian Lehrer Show last week — and lied about his record.

The truth is that universal pre-K was won despite the disgraced ex-Governor, not because of him.

Went to a toddler rave yesterday morning at a food truck park and while there was a lot to focus on, I mostly noticed how every parent there was our age or close to it. I thought “oh ok, I guess I’m there now”

How long have people been struggling against the perils of fascism and the threat of authoritarianism? What lessons have we learned from their horrible deeds? Only to invite them into our homes with open arms?

I’m here to fight and I always will be. But goddamn I’m disappointed in so many people.

I think we can learn a lot about society by taking the bus. I’ve been taking public transit for about 8 years now in Austin and there’s nothing like it. Lots of propaganda about the city and its faults blah blah. But sit in a bus everyday for a few years and you’ll see it all

Well it happened. I don’t find joy in driving anymore. At least in the modern sense. I hate my car. I hate being in my car. I hate being around other cars. Every second costs me money and every dollar spent still decreases its value. My happiest moments on the road have been on a bike. I’ve had it!!

Either nobody is hiring right now or my worst fear has come true: I am both over and under qualified for a lot of the jobs I’m trying to apply for. Bro I’m just trying to pay my bills 😩😩

I ask myself why keep stressing out over the struggle and then I see a hummingbird zooming in front of me, gathering nectar from the flowers and I’m like oh right, this planet is pretty cool and I gotta do my part to save it from capitalist greed
