I kind of love how my Framework 13 laptop just casually gets BIOS and firmware updates via fwupdmgr, as part of regular package updates on Linux.

They just show up and apply on reboot like the kernel or anything else would, which is nice.

Infuriating things about PowerShell: output redirection (i.e. using ">" or "out-file" or anything else) will still wrap lines to the current width of your console window/terminal, inserting newlines in the output.

@glyph THANKFULLY my usage is usually relegated to recording a timestamp that's already past and doing basic time deltas where most of the concerns are "did this happen before that other datetime generated in the exact same way" at best

Note to self: don't use naive datetimes in Python, just don't. It's so low effort to use UTC internally and you won't have to wonder "WAIT what happens to any of my time deltas when DST kicks in?" at 1am
