Which is exactly why the Republicans are doing this: it's not about the border, specifically, it's a test of how far they can go before "the mainstream" acknowledges they're off the rails. How much will the civility paradigm allow them to get away with.

They're hoping that if they don't shine attention on it, it will go away. They're also afraid of losing conservative advertising dollars and clicks.

Cowards. Utterly feckless cowards.
