Maybe rather than trying to put a system and a curriculum onto everyone we need to start by asking what the actual children in front of us need? That's kind of how it works in #EYFS. Difficult to do at scale though so I'm not sure what the wider answer is.

Slimming down the maths curriculum would be a huge help and cutting out unnecessary grammar would really help.
