(He/Him) Some guy from the UK.
I'm cishet, but reasonably nice.
You'd think Labour would *try* only passing policies that actually improve the country and that people actually want. Just for a laugh if anything?

But the Haggis bit is the best bit! 😅

so if you could all get on tidal (first 30 days are free! I am not sponsored) and start making some sick playlists that would be really nice of you.

You can cancel after I guess? but you shouldn't. it's clearly the better platform idk why anyone is still on Spotify.

Linked to this, and I don't mean this in a patronising way, but I swear my queer friends are much less worried about 'life milestones' (generally I mean, not just sex/relationship stuff) then my non-queer friends. I'm guessing that's HN patriarchy-related, too?

I live in England and there's always a small but dedicated number of people who celebrate it. My theory is that people who try haggis and go 'actually this is a lot nicer than I thought it'd be' need to congregate with others like them once a year. And get drunk, obviously.

What's their manifesto going to be? 'I know we're a lot like Reform, but please vote for us anyway or else Reform will win'? It's almost funny. (In an extremely dark way, anyway).
The election is still a while away, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a sudden U-turn at some point.

Morning! I can't decide if I'm pleased or depressed by how unseasonably mild the temperature is. (Even on BlueSky I can't help but mention the weather, sorry)
December 8, 2025 at 8:09 AM
Maybe I'm a bit stupid for even asking this, but what are Labour trying to achieve with this? I'm guessing siphoning off Reform votes?

I knew that before it was cool

... is as awful as a lot of our ruling class and media are. Why are so many of our politicians seemingly reacting to the ruling class/media instead of what our public actually want?

How would you even pull Labour from the Left? I'm assuming by scrapping the Workers/Renters Rights acts. I.e. the only (sort of) good ideas they've had.
I genuinely don't get it. I understand people are fickle, and can vote against their interests, but I refuse to accept that the average Brit...

It's that issue of a lot of fans thinking Vader is a 'cool badass'. How is that the case when the OT is about Luke seeing the good in him. You're meant to not like the fact that Anakin is Vader. See also Venom/Peter Parker in Spiderman 3.

You'd think *someone* would have said: 'How about we *try* just doing the employment/renters rights stuff'?

I walk a lot but I'm in my 30's now and work in an office, so I need to start taking posture and upper body exercise seriously. I find it really hard to keep exercise 'habits' going 😕

Is it possible for culture/economics/sociology etc. to simultaneously spin it's wheels and get worse at the same time? Because that's what it's starting to feel like.

Whenever people say things like 'barely anything has changed culturally since the 2000's', I laugh. A lot of the stuff about our politics (and how no IP seems to 'go away' anymore, but that's a different discussion) would seem like a joke 20-30 years ago.

Is this 'smart features in everything' an American thing? I bought a lot of kitchen stuff recently (UK) and it was only the most expensive stuff that was filled with smart/AI crap. I do understand that if you rent, you're stuck with what the landlord bought, though.

Absolutely. I also loved how striking some scenes were. That scene of Mulder seeing a possible UFO (probably simply achieved a really bright light off screen) for the first time really stuck in my mind. I'd rank it alongside actual film scenes.

I do remember some of the acting being a bit 'off' in earlier seasons. Not sure if this was the actors gradually 'settling in' to the characters or a weird quirk of early 90's TV production?

I eat a full sized sandwich because that's how Calvin eats them in Calvin and Hobbes.
