my hopeful read on this is that it is a great reminder of the power of literature -- for all the hysteria about people no longer reading, which is genuinely alarming, i don't think it will last

ok maybe not quite more famous but at the very least a legitimate celebrity with a gigantic audience and a known public persona

decent move for a statement to be fair, but "social media livestream" really downplays that adin ross is almost certainly more famous and influential than puka nacua. www.nytimes.com/2024/08/05/u...
'Wish I never got into politics,' says Adin Ross, who livestreamed with Trump in 2024
President Donald Trump appeared with livestream star Adin Ross in 2024. Barron Trump suggested it, but Ross said he wishes he didn't get into politics

in context, it's very obvious that this is an anti-semitic gesture. even if puka is dumb as rocks, and he probably is, being dumb as rocks is actually not an excuse, and it's intentionally minimizing to say a "social media livestream" to downplay it.

i think it's far more likely that they (correctly) think that luke weaver stinks

the knicks themselves have fallen prey to this insane, pathetic, self-loathing behavior. sad! bsky.app/profile/sham...
The New York Knicks will not raise an NBA Cup championship banner at Madison Square Garden, sources tell ESPN. The Lakers and Bucks raised banners for NBA Cup titles over the last two years. Knicks will celebrate with home fans Friday.

look, only one of these tournaments is single elimination
December 17, 2025 at 2:58 PM
"the postseason/playoffs/rings is all that matters" take is vacuous and honestly a little sad. you watch the teams night in and night out for months, but take no joy in anything unless they win the last game of the season? why bother? (doubly true if you root for the god damn knicks of all teams)
December 17, 2025 at 2:53 PM
the players sure seem to care and are happy about it. it is a fun event that adds some juice to otherwise meaningless, cold, drab sports nights. hang the god damn banner

i watch a lot of these appalling videos and few of them have gotten as immediate a reaction of out me -- a dad with a 18-month-old in daycare -- as this one. there are likely kids as young as three or four months in that facility.

i think a lot of people, deep down, didn't think he should have resigned and also (happily, might i add) thought that the "me too/woke" era had passed us by

but the great irony here is that mamdani is a typical young new yorker. he just is! likes new york, thinks it is too expensive, and loves to be online

the highest-ranking elected democrat in the country either did NOT vote for the winner of the democratic primary in favor of a third-party challenger or DID so and won't admit it. either option is bad

it is impossible to read that question in anything other than joe pesci's voice

trump gets away with whatever he wants and nobody ever cares but EVERYONE is distracted by the affable mamdani and is instead missing a legitimately insane and serious scandal
