I’m a geek who’s into TTRPGs (D&D, World of Darkness, et al.), computer games, beer, martial arts (Wing Chun, BJJ, Muay Thai), Magic: the Gathering (casually), board games (mostly co-op), fantasy… you know, the usual. VP of Engineering at Roll20.
Just had an interesting reversal of "it's not a bug, it's a feature" at work. A bug has existed in a particular tool for probably about a decade now. It turns out, one of our internal folks was using that bug as a feature, and fixing it will disrupt one of their workflows.

This is pretty cool news! For all that’s going down in fire (literally, in some cases), at least there are still some advances happening. Though I expect fewer of them in our country after all the research funding freezes.

Amber was an amazing coworker. She left Roll20 to pursue other goals a while ago, but we all remember her fondly, and my heart breaks for her 6 year old son. So at DriveThruRPG, we’ve put together a bundle (with the help of various publishers) to benefit her son. www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/5...

I never used Xitter much, and it’s unlikely I’ll use this a lot either. But, I’m happy to see people bailing on the musky service. Anyway, here’s a phone photo of the full moon from last night.

As a note, the actual analysis is behind a paywall so I didn’t double check it, but I’d be interested to pick at that. Murder is down (even in big cities, with a few outlier exceptions), larceny is down. Those are the only two types of crime directly mentioned in the article though. Cont’d (1/2)
Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong.
Almost 80 percent of Americans, and 92 percent of Republicans, think crime has gone up. It actually fell in 2023. An expert blames a familiar culprit for the mistaken impression.
