You may care to check out the Spanish pronunciation of taco and then ask yourself why a country which has a land border with Spain might use that pronunciation.
mrtrellis.bsky.social
I'm reminded of the American Who fan who called Roger Delgado Latino and then called everyone who said that he was in fact Anglo-Spanish a racist.

Fancy us pronouncing a Spanish word the Spanish way on account of Spain being our nearest Spanish speaking country. How racist.

I think the way British people pronounce “tacos” is racist. Like c’mon folks, you use the rounded A (a) sound for just about every voiced A you’ve got. But suddenly “tacos” gets a short A (æ)…

Feels deliberate.

Doomwatch series 2 episode 1
An old, sepia-toned picture of a man in a chicken suit. It's really very detailed and well made, the illusion is only shattered by his regular human face sticking out. No beak or anything.

The SE6 remained in production until 1990, latterly by a firm named Middlebridge. Very few Middlebridges were made, although naturally it did supply one to that most loyal of Scimitar owners Princess Anne.

Scimitar owners always flash their lights at each other. No matter what I'm driving I still instinctively do it every time I pass a Scimitar, no doubt to the bafflement of the person behind the wheel.

"I bought a house opposite a school and for some reason there's a load of cars outside twice a day." Well no shit Sherlock.

Or who move to a village and try to get the church bells silenced, or buy a house next to a steam railway and complain about the trains.

Saw a very grubby one in Llangollen Aldi car park a couple of weeks ago, evidently still in daily use.

My dad had two SE5s, one after another. My granddad had a Gilbern Invader Mk III. Those were the days.
mrtrellis.bsky.social
And appropriately to your interests all three Scimitar models were for some reason named after Royal Aircraft Factory biplanes. That's the SE6. The earlier GTE model was the SE5. The original saloon was the SE4.

What's the matter? Don't you like Gerry Davis treating the audience like morons?

How I respond when people ask me why I write horror and not 'proper' literature
Intertitle reads "Anybody can write the stuff this critic means. Mine is the work of genius---real blood curdling situations---plot and counterplot---hair raisers!"

Been watching the Reginald Perrin sketch from "The Funny Side of Christmas". There's a tramp wanders in to complete Reggie's Christmas torment and BLOODY HELL IT'S MICHAEL RIPPER. Splendidly boggle-eyed and bonkers he is too. Oddly reminiscent of Arthur Haynes.
Screengrab from "The Funny Side of Christmas" - the "Reginald Perrin" segment. Having been driven to distraction by the sudden arrival of all the other cast members, the final blow is delivered to Reggie's Christmas by a random tramp, played by Michael Ripper. Michael Ripper's tramp from "The Funny Side of Christmas". Looks oddly like Arthur Haynes.
