Toni Morrison was the first Black woman of any nationality to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (1993). She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction (1988) for her book, Beloved.

I’ll end with these quotes from Beloved👇
"Love is or it ain't. Thin love ain't love at all."
“You are your best thing.” [3/3]

The rich imagery she created by her words, the complex themes she explored, her character development, and the way she wove it all together. Just phenomenal! After reading Paradise, I just knew I had to find and devour every single Toni Morrison book 📚. As I grew up, I collected them all. [2/3]

"...And the policeman said
'I'm here to keep the peace
Will the crowd disperse?
I think we all could use some sleep'
Last night I heard the screaming
Loud voices behind the wall...
It won't do no good to call
The police
Always come late, if they come at all"

I remember my dad playing this Tracy Chapman album on repeat while I rode in the car with him. At the age of 6, I didn't fully understand the power of her words, but I LOVED every song. I bought the cassette tape for myself years later, then the CD, etc. Her words are still very important today.
