Recently I started posting on Bluesky (I signed up a little while ago) and I'm happy/sad I did. First the happy news. There's a lot more engagement on Bluesky than my other social media site so far. I guess in spite of all the misgivings of joining yet another social media site again owned by a corporation, the bottom line is it's where my posse has moved to from the site formerly known as twitter.

With so many outlets available for buying scrumptious yarn online, such as Etsy, Ravelry IndieUntangled's Marketplace, etc., and all the other tempting, stash enhancing websites out there (YMMV/NAYY), it's a wonder that brick and mortar shops are still with us post-plague. Our LYS opened an online shop a few years ago. Of course I'm happy for them, especially knowing how much blood, sweat and tears went into getting that site ready for prime time, but I'm also conflicted.

It's frustrating, I tell you. Knowing that I'm a loose knitter, I normally drop between one and two needle sizes before even starting my gauge swatch (yes, I do them). And even when it looks like I've either hit gauge or a small smidgen off, the end product is not near gauge. Even my grandson's first birthday sweater project, where the 30 stitch swatch was knit IN THE frickin' ROUND by sliding the stitches across a circular dpn, the row gauge in the sweater itself was off.

After nearly a two-year hiatus, I signed up again to be a Knitty Patreon. I've been a fan of their online magazine, even at a time when other online knitting magazines were all the rage. Anyone here remember KnitNet? Didn't think so. KnittingDaily? OK, maybe a few of you. Knitty, established in 2002, is one of the last online magazine standing.
