No. The DOJ is not in charge of the federal judiciary. It is part of the Executive Branch (Article II, of the Constitution). I'm posting a chart of the DOJ as it was still functioning up to the end of the Biden Administration. It shows all the different agencies & depts that are part of the DOJ.

People might be tempted to believe the NRA encouraged them to "gloss over the first four words" (actually, the first HALF) whenever they think of the 2nd Amendment!

Most people here are well-educated and understand this entire country operates on democratic socialism principles.

(It ranges from Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to public schools, fire departments, police departments, public hospitals, water management, disaster relief, and an array of gov't agencies essential to support a civilized society - too many to type in here!)

Loyola Law School constitutional law professor Justin Levitt suggests that Civil contempt is the best way to get officials to follow court orders and civil contempt is non pardonable offense. “Civil contempt sanctions are more likely to work in this case than criminal sanctions, Levitt continued: "The sort of authority used for punishment, to sanction past wrongdoing, is the criminal contempt power. But the version more likely to command executive attention is instead part of the civil law, and more forward-looking. It is immune from any power to pardon. It doesn’t rely on another branch to execute. And it’s less likely to be repurposed as a martyr’s badge of honor. All this makes civil contempt a more effective tool for extracting future performance."

But the swiftness, its indiscriminate nature and the cruelty of the pause have. The Executive Order painted foreign assistance as antithetical to American interests and American values. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am linking in the comments a reminder of President Kennedy's vision for foreign assistance, a video that USAID created on its 50th anniversary in 2011. It's narrated by Kennedy's vision, spoken in his own voice. I used to use this 2-minute video when I led internal trainings as USAID staff, to ask my colleagues to remember why they were doing this work in the first place. On Friday afternoon, after 5 days of talking about Private Sector Engagement, I asked them to remember their motivation for working at USAID. And to remember the history of the Agency. And now I'm asking that of you. Please, USAID people (staff, implementers, supporters), don't forget where we started, now more than 60 years ago. We will get through this. The Agency may be irreversably harmed; jobs are being lost as I write this. I am not downplaying those blows -- after all, I lost my own USAID job 8 years ago in the early days of the first Trump Administration. But Americans are bigger than this. We are more generous than this. And we're all in this together. As President Kennedy said at the end of this video: "In the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal."

Hunter. Here's the reality. No USAtty would have charged this case given the underlying facts. After a 5 year investigation the facts as discovered only made that clear. Had his name been Joe Smith the resolution would have been - fundamentally and more fairly - a declination. Pardon warranted. Ask yourself a vastly more important question. Do you really think Kash Patel is qualified to lead the world's preeminent law enforcement investigative organization? Obvious answer: hell no. Dec 1, 2024
