Idk I’m just a random guy. I putz around with various creative things. I’m also a huge nerd
You and me both tbh. But hey, maybe if I invented did one thing of relevance in making a markup language/was terminally online as an insufferable contrarian for 20+ years I’d think I was hot shit too

Bold of you to think I could do either

Finally, who’s to say it’s the typeface and not the sizing, line height, etc. that’s causing the problem?

I get where you’re coming from and your post adds more nuance, but I prefer empty signaling towards accessibility over fascistic signaling towards decorum any day

Rubio’s numbers also conveniently strip any context from the narrative. I’d rather see these numbers relative to the overall number of documents. I would assume the State Department was busier in 2024 than 2022 given the geopolitical climate becoming worse

Yes, serif typefaces generally have a certain level of “class” associated with them culturally speaking, but as younger generations who are digitally native and accustomed to the ubiquity of sans-serif typefaces enter the workforce and eventually the government, that idea will be challenged

Idk… I see what you’re saying and Rubio’s numbers are pretty damning, but sans-serif fonts ARE easier to read at smaller scales and on screens than serif fonts. And frankly, the idea that Times New Roman is somehow “more professional” seems like ideology based on legacy
