@johnnylowden.bsky.social Rector, I know the faithful like to show off their Advent Devotional reading every year...

So here is my recommendation.

The months of April and May are particularly good.

All good wishes,

The Vicar.

Today I also discovered Mark's Model Shop in Cork City.

I may have to play Klaus Doldinger's epic score from Das Boot while buliding...

I received tremendous kindness from my Muslim neighbours today.
Given my ongoing journey of grief, their concern for me was an unexpected working of Grace.

A Sermon in a Village Church c. 1630 by Peter Paul Rubens (Met Museum)
A very rare depiction of preaching in an 'ordinary' parochial setting for this period and a real delight to see. The view is that he worked this up from a life sketch.

Actually I rather like ANGELUS. Reminds me of solid Psalms in Metre.

#Evensong

And none, O Lord, have perfect rest,
for none are wholly free from sin;
and they who fain would serve thee best
are conscious most of wrong within.

The Gospel for tomorrow - Luke 18: 9-14

invites sustained reflection on why the Church must contain features of both the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. In line with Augustine's argument that the Church is both a Holy and a Flawed Institution.

I can't think why this has come to mind 😂

Meet the woman bringing art to Cork’s St Fin Barre’s Cathedral
Art curators are not often seen in churches in Ireland, so Orla O’Byrne’s new role as art curator at St Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork is quite novel. ...

@johnnylowden.bsky.social As you know Fr, I'm not a big fan of hard left popular music.

However, the bar in the music video of 'The Flying Pickets' cover of "Only You", I'm sure you will agree, is an absolute beauty!

Such places are now only a memory.
