To me, "social justice" should mean working to mitigate or overturn the structures that create privation and discrimination. At the very least "social justice" points out that power is distributed unequally and asks who benefits from the current arrangement.

Yikes. Not defending Stowe here -- there's a lot to critique about her and the book -- but for many readers it was their first encounter with a depiction of life for slaves. It was wildly popular and created a generation of enthusiastic abolitionists. That's not bad!
