Too weird for the normies, too normal for the weirdos. I heart Baltimore.

Feel like I should do a bio in case anyone stumbles upon this. Hi, I'm Matt. I'm from Kansas City, have been in Baltimore (Highlandtown) since 2012. DC before that, also Connecticut and New Mexico. 1/

On January 20, 2029, there had better be workers up on ladders scraping that garbage off before President TBD even finishes reciting the oath of office.
I’m currently outside of the Kennedy Center:

I saw Joe Ely open for The (post-Mick Jones) Clash on the Cut the Crap tour. The Clash were fine, but Ely's and his band's performance was searing. The next day I was at the record store looking for everything of his I could find. A giant of American music, even if he never got the recognition.

Not saying it's by design, but right now it looks like the only non-white position players on the Orioles are Samuel Basallo and Jeremiah Jackson, if he makes the team. Kind of shocking, given all the international talent in MLB and Baltimore's long run of high quality African-American players.

Already been an exciting day for me. The vacant rowhome next door to me was broken into while I was sitting there eating my breakfast. I called 911, and it took the cops 40 minutes to show up. The burglar had already carried off his loot by that point.

Well, the power went down again around midnight and has stayed down. I'm suddenly very interested in replacing BGE with public power.
Two hours after the power went out here in Highlandtown, affecting some 1500 customers, BGE is still saying they are "working on assigning a crew."

Really looking forward to the MAHA crowd retreating from public policy and going back to stuff where they can do less damage, like sharing their opinions about astrology and aromatherapy diffusers. Hep B will kill some kids now, thanks to these ghouls.

Two months after the shutdown started, we're still scrambling to get back on track. And we likely won't ever get fully back this fiscal year. Some stuff, even statutorily required stuff, won't happen this year. Other stuff is getting half-assed done. We just don't have the capacity.
‘The mission is dead’: Federal workers say the shutdown made an ‘extremely trying year’ worse
“As if morale wasn't already non-existent, it sure is now," one federal worker said.

A really helpful look at life after retirement. I worry about what I'll do after turning in my PIV card, but I'm also bubbling over with ideas.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Well, that was fast. A deposit with a big chunk of my missing paychecks (50% of gross pay) was made this morning. I feel like Scrooge McDuck swimming the backstroke in a pile of gold doubloons.

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed
