Hi, I'm Michael - a left-wing creator and activist based in Warsaw, Poland.
#Poland has incredibly improved its #railway network since we joined #europe union in 2004. In 2024, Polish railway operators served over 407 million passengers. We're still far from over a BILLION passengers in 1989, but if we increase our spending on public transit we will be on the right track.

#warsaw just got its first woonerf. These traffic-calmed residential streets are great for everyone, especially kids, elderly, and people with mobility issues. By prioritizing walking and cycling, they make #cities more accessible, walkable, and inclusive. We need more of that in car-centric #Poland

#warsaw #warszawa can't sleep! Roughly 300 people gathered in front of the Palace of Culture and Science, and marched in #protest against #noise #pollution. Our government doesn't even seem to acknowledge the problem, even though noise can directly affect your physical and psychological health.

@donald-tusk.bsky.social's cabinet stays. On June 11th, #polish parliament gave him their vote of confidence. Had they failed to do so we might have faced a #political crisis, snap elections, and resurgent of the right-wing #government and parliament.

Will Poland end up turning right yet again?

There are plenty of examples - London, #paris, Berlin, Portland, #seattle, #nyc , and more - where car traffic was limited, a lot of pop-up #cycling lanes were installed, and public transit was improved. Cities can be quieter, healthier, and happier.

But unfortunately not #warsaw.

#Poland elected their president on June 1st. The right-wing candidate won which means we'll have a right-wing president and the centrist government again.

We've been seeing the resurgence of the right, decline of the liberals and disappearance of the left. Will Poland turn brown soon?

What a pleasure it was to participate in Streets for Kids day. There was a sense of pride seeing these kids exercise their independence without the looming threat of cars. It was such an enjoyable ride- we even made some friends afterwards!

Love this community 🫶

#Poland chose their president yesterday. "Independent" candidate Karol Nawrocki - supported by a right-wing party Law and Justice - won by a a nose against the current centrist mayor of Warsaw - Rafał #Trzaskowski. Maybe is it Poland not Canada who will become the 51st #UnitedStates state soon?
