#OTD the Battle of Lepanto (1571) took place, one of the most decisive and symbolic naval battles in European history. It was fought between the Holy League (a coalition of Christian states) and the Ottoman Empire, and it involved an extraordinary cast of historical figures.

One of the most painful and interesting things about writing is just how much you need to read, see and consider, that you will not include in the end. But you cannot write what you are writing unless you have thought about it.

Saint Catherine prays, an angel w a sword appears, the wheel bursts into flames, and landscape is beautiful. Because it was painted in 1515 by Joachim Patinir, master of landscape, who died OTD in 1524.

October 5: Apologies for the bad news, but today is one of the 3 unluckiest days of the year in the Roman calendar. Definitely let people know that the underworld opens up to the living today (mundus patet) and so you just can’t leave your house, especially to sail (also on August 24 & November 8).
The tomb was designated the “Tomb of Cerberus” after the incredible mural of Hercules fighting the three-headed dog that guarded the underworld.

Was ist die zweitbeste Hansestadt nach Lemgo:

2. Olpe - weil mit idyllischer barrierefreier Spazierstrecke am Obersee

2. Korbach - weil einzige Hansestadt Hessens

The quickest way to finish an article is to start it. It also helps if you can stay away from social media, tv and the internet. And your cell phone. And other people. You should also fight urges to clean and organise spaces, and to cook big meals.

In other words, it’s difficult to finish articles.
A monk is seated, working on a manuscript. He is writing in a book and the writing appears to be horizontal lines.
