A really important thread of information on the many (I did not realise so many!) universal basic income trials. Good evidence for those who are instinctively ideologically opposed. It won’t persuade them, but you know ‘drip drip’.

People have NO idea any more the mass grief and enormous child mortality rates of a world before vaccines. The idea of getting rid of these protective measures just boggles the mind.

Between 40% and 50% of children didn’t live past 5 in the US during the 19th century. Popular authors like Charles Dickens documented the common but no less gutting grief of losing a child.

I hate how the US works. We could give everyone single payer healthcare and a basic income. Give tax breaks to people who build affordable housing, But no, let's give billionaires a break, poor babies. Lets take away the safety net, those folks don't need help. :(

Places that have offered UBI have seen the results: most people do want to work. The people who choose not to are generally young parents, students, people with disabilities and the elderly. People have a desire to contribute, for our lives to have purpose and to be useful. 5/11
