Fuck all Nazis. Mixes, since 2008. (Plus urbanism, cats, silly Lego robots, anti-fascism, photography, veganism, anti-cars, my music, etc.) http://musicophilia.wordpress.com https://ianmanire.bandcamp.com https://flickr.com/planetrobotica

I did a softcover print run of my book of Lego robots, 'Planet Robotica'. They turned out really nicely! If you'd like a copy, they're $26 each plus shipping, just let me know.

Here's a PDF version if you'd like to stay minimalist:

A white softcover book called 'Planet Robotica' with a jaunty elderly robot (made of Lego) on its cover. The physical Lego build of his elderly robot nemesis stands on the cover, looking disapproving, sipping his morning hot motoroil.

Long live the old, weird internet. While the original mp3 downloads of the box set have since been replaced at Musicophilia with streaming options, we have uploaded the original files for posterity …

'BLQLYTE' by Zeroh from 2020 continues to feel the most viscerally "like our times," expressed with total artistry and nerve-wracking beauty. My favorite "heaphones album" of at least the last decade.

A spherical abstract sculpture with organic penetrations in it with bright light shining through into the foggy darkness.

Ha! Love it. I love New England and the northeast, but Portland will always be home.

When I first moved there, I somewhat seriously thought people were gently hazing the newbie with "Couch" haha

A vigil for pedestrian lives lost at a dangerous and ignored Providence intersection

"All I want is justice," said Alexis Garcia. "That’s all I want, so no one else can die here, and no one has to suffer through what I have suffered.”

Rest in peace, Danny Thompson.

A mix I made in 2020, selecting from his innumerable amazing contributions to so many favorites:

Featuring Nick Drake, Talk Talk, Kate Bush, Sandy Denny, David Sylvian, Toumani Diabate, Shellyan Orphan...
[Tribute] – ‘The Bassist: A Tribute to Danny Thompson’ (1968-1994)
A tribute to Danny Thompson’s unmistakably rich, soulful bass-playing, from Nick Drake to Talk Talk.

If you need to escape this world occasionally, 'Les Bibliotechaires' is an exploration of the myriad funky, sophisticated, playful, otherworldly sounds of Library Music from the late 60s to early 80s, across 28 LP-side-length themed mixes.

Excellent selections, what a genius. Limiting to 10, I literally couldn't do it haha

(The Talk Talk youtube link sends to "Happiness is Easy," not "The Rainbow, if you want to change it.)

Must-read on Trump’s lawless Chicago invasion: “The president instructed federal agents to use extralegal violence against immigrants & citizens, pitting armed soldiers from 1 state against citizens of another… rubicons can’t be uncrossed.” www.thebulwark.com/p/emergency-...

He was brilliant in 'Dr. Katz' and 'Home Movies,' which 'Bob's Burgers' definitely has its roots in. I hope you dig it if you give it another go--it's definitely a little more "normal' than those shows, but a very bright light in a sea of mediocrity (and worse) in mainstream animation.

...are certainly a million miles from perfect, and still held hostage by the same white supremacists and fascists as all of the US. But don't feel bad for seeking a little breathing room.

I truly wish you all the best in finding a place that gives you more of what you need in life. It sucks, because obviously so many good people live in the South, who don't deserve any of this shit. But I fear for my parents and family and friends who're there, honestly. Other parts of the country...

It was easy for me to leave, since almost all of my friends also left. But I got Arkansas twenty years ago and genuinely don't think I'd be alive today if I hadn't.

The Simpsons had 4, maybe 5 good seasons.

Bob's Burgers is better now than The Simpsons ever was, and it has been for 15 years straight.

Creative, funny, grounded, silly, humane, witty, warm, progressive, even moving. (Plus it's an urbanist show.)

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.
