Suicide - CBGB, New York City, February 3, 1978 https://doomandgloomfromthetomb.tumblr.com/post/797030943815860224
**_Suicide - CBGB, New York City, February 3, 1978_** More amazing live music in Colorado? For some reason, this fall is just jam-packed with shows … and while I wish that they weren’t all crammed into a three-week period, hey, I’m not going to complain. The gig tonight? None other than Martin Rev, co-founder with the late Alan Vega of the legendary Suicide. Presented by the angels of Caracol Productions and KGNU, it’s taking place at the Aztlan Theater, one of the coolest, vibe-iest venues in the city. Put on your blue jumpsuit and come on out for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening. Alas, I never got to see Suicide play — but I love reading first-hand accounts of their chaotic/iconic performances from back in the day. Here’s a good one from Kris Needs’ recommended book _Dream Baby Dream - Suicide: A New York Story_: _“This is gonna be fun,” muttered Alan as he eyed the seething mass before him and then made for the solitary centre-stage microphone. Rev positioned himself behind the Perspex-style shield protecting his Farsifa-Seeburg Instrument combination from the goomie-phlegm and assorted missiles which start coming as ignited the floor-shaking generator rumble of “Ghost Rider.” At that time, there was no other sound like it on the planet and I’ll never forget experiencing it for the first time in a large, cavernous venue. It seemed to make the whole building quake, which further alarmed and antagonised the rally-minded mob._ Hopefully, Rev doesn’t reduce the Aztlan to rubble tonight — but what a way to go, right? To prep, let’s all listen to a blown-out tape of Suicide at CBGB way back in 1978, with the duo delivering dreams and nightmares in equal measure to the Bowery.

Animal, Surrender! :: A Boot For Every Bane

aquariumdrunkard.com/2025/10/07/a...

Not sure how many eight-string bass / pipe organ / drums trios there are out there, but I’m going to go ahead and declare the Brooklyn-based Animal, Surrender! as the very best of them all.
