4 out of 12 families already covered!
I said we were done asking for rent money. But today I heard the horrifying fact that there are zero family shelter beds in the entire state of Minnesota. So we are going to try something new.

We are going to do peer to peer funding. You take on urgent‼️ funding for one family. You send to them.

so tired of the hyper aggro anti-Will Stancil discourse. So much awesome effective networking & collab going on here in MN with efforts to combat being under siege by the actual enemies: Trump/ICE/feds. Yet as per uzh we seem to land back at stance that Stancil is history's greatest monster ffs.

yes but the $40 to wired also goes toward paying CN execs’ multimillion-dollar salaries, a lease they can’t get out of in the WTC, and more corpo stuff that doesn’t make the journalism any better
when i give wired dot com $40 i get access to so many journalists‘ work, when i give my favorite writer $40 i only get that one person’s work AND i can only do that for like one person a year. it sucks!!!!
i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.

echoing this. i'm not talking about people occasionally forgetting, but there are musicians and artists and journalists on here who never ever use alt text
Would it kill journalists to use alt text for crying out loud. I do not understand people's refusal to make their posts accessible. It's extremely irritating
A staggering statement from former Washington Post editor Marty Baron: "This ranks among the darkest days in the history of one of the world's greatest news organizations."

If you are out observing or rapid responding to ICE today, let them know that they’ve lost. Remind them that they’ve failed and they should go home and call a lawyer.

whoever this guy is he should run for office in his community.

(whole thread about the community in AZ showing up to speak out against a proposed ICE warehouse there. they SHOWED UP.)
Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

Most of the footage you see from ICE observers in Minnesota comes from the core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. I talked to observers in the northern suburbs, who say they're taking on the same mission in very different conditions. (1)

in the 90s i started a pearl jam website called five horizons & one of the things i often did after shows was call this song "elderly woman around the counter in a small town." my co-editor would wake up in the morning & fix it but there were always ppl who got worked up that it was a "new" song
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)
