Oh my late mother had a series of TERRIBLE charming Cairns. Like her ID unleashed upon the world. RIP Mom ...

There was a Mexican restaurant in Ridgeway CO back in the 1980s that made one I liked, but I've never met one since that wasn't either too tequila-y or sickly sweet.

This whole thread but especially this.

And this is why any visible thing you are doing is more useful than the thing itself. People can see you, and know solidly how many of us there are.
Fascism wants you to believe that you are alone. That you are isolated. That the feelings you have are yours and nobody else has them because everybody is too afraid to speak.

But love is stronger than fascism. Community is stronger than fascism.

Or? Hear me out? We could just tax your rich fuckers and pay to strengthen the commonwealth.
Dr Oz: "If we could get the average American to start working a year earlier, right out of high school, or a year later -- not retire -- or work better during their lifetime because they're healthy, it would generate about $3 trillion to the US economy. That would more than remove the debt."

Well? I mean, very rich Mormon dude who orchestrated their "meet cute" with his father's help ...

#UglyDogs? Didn't we have some spreadsheet wizards for IGiveARod?
Fun volunteer project for a nerd!

Who wants to go through StandWithMinnesota and add every existing listing on the website with a visible amount of fundraising and put it in a spreadsheet and add it up?

But also, you do not want neuropathy -- my FIL was just debilitated with it in his later years ...

ARGH! Can you watch a movie at least? Ugh.

And yes, the Virgin of Guadalupe and I have been on the case (I took her with me when I left the One True).

This whole tranche of White Guy Actors with Hot Takes podcasts are very much not for me.

FYI to my lady friends of a menopausal age -- increased sound and light sensitivity can be a symptom, especially if you're neuroatypical.
Which does not change the fact that In These TImes loud noises are required, and we need to woman up.
The argument I keep encountering talks for/over people with noise sensitivities and trauma, insisting that they need to be defended from the big bad whistles. (I also am very sensitive to noise! People fighting to protect their communities are not responsible for managing it.)

It sucks. No doubt.

Yikes!
I've lost a few friends to the Fascism, and it's always painful.

Made baked firm tofu for the first time in YEARS and it's quite delicious for lunch on some rice, with some stir fried cabbage.

Work part aside -- I would have SUCH a hard time just sitting there without having something to do with my hands!

Thinking of you dear one. Prayers up.

Small victories. Harriet the cat (my avatar) let me shave the matty bits off underneath her chin, and even purred about it.
But then she was DONE.

Yeah, Mom got a restraining order after that incident. But we also had one of those childhoods where there were multiple near-death moments that we never told the grownups about 😂

As a 3 foot tall 10 year old, got put on a 17 hand green hunter (by the woman my dad left us for). Thoroughly run away with in a field adjacent to a highway. Planned to jump off if it took the fence toward the cars, made it around the field, bailed as horse took the paved drive back to the barn.
What’s the worst *short-lived* scare you’ve ever had? Where you were genuinely freaking out but then it was all ok within minutes?

I had a literal moth get trapped inside my ear for about 40 seconds. I was screaming. Then it was out.

She had pretty good spook antennae, so I'm sure she felt it.

But she was also being her most butthead self that trip! Mad we'd left Chicago and moved to the Bay, and determined to prove to us it wasn't "all that." Oy.

OMG. My mother INSISTED on going to Alcatraz. It was $$. My brother was "you're going to hate it and it's $$" Nope. Had to go.
Got off the boat, walked in the bldg, said "OMG this is so depressing" and turned around to go back to the boat. Bro says "It's a PRISON! What did you expect?"

My mother was Very Not A Morning Person, and Chicago suburbs, half the winter the bus would break down and just not come. So most of the time, we'd walk with my cousin back to her house, because auntie would drive us to school without yelling at us (it was the 70s, all the parents yelled).

This is a great example of what Marx called "the vampire thirst for the living blood of labour."
