I bitch about tourists all the time, but the incredibly cheerful dude with NY plates who had stopped his Harley next to my car at the trailhead, and was talking in Arabic on his phone, and who wanted to pet my dog? He made my day. I hope he has a great trip.

News for #MT folks, and #MTpol too ...
(1) Long 🧵 Time.
Today we learned that paleontologist Jack Horner (the same guy who helped give us "Jurassic Park") is in the Epstein Files. As a paleontologist, I feel compelled to say something because this touches my field and I want to make my stance clear on this...

People have been shouting for years that no one should be a billionaire, that wealth on that level is personally poison and societally catastrophic, and now we have millions of terribly written emails demonstrating in the clearest terms that every one of those shouts was impossibly correct.

At the very heart of the conflict raging in the United States is a conflict about human nature, a deep moral and philosophical conflict. I believe the isolationists will lose in the long run because they are not only out of step with the majority but they are out of step with reality....

Ran into an old friend in Costco who, like my late brother, works in events, and while I'm sorry he's wrecked from the Grammys last night and has to go start setting up the SuperBowl, it was a very nostalgic convo for me. I grew up in events, and events people are the best.

sorry maybe this is an unnecessary level of stating the obvious, but sometimes when someone says they don’t think puerto ricans are “american,” it isn’t an opportunity to do a little civics gotcha & tell them about the insular cases. they just mean they think real americans are white.

Oy. Winco (where the register broke down after they kicked me out of the self-checkout line for having more than 15 items). Costco. Ulta. And the only shoe/boot repair shop left in this part of the state where it's going to be $$ to get those boot fixed. Then BZN street traffic and now home. UGH.

Here’s @schumer.senate.gov saying his job is to fight for aid to Israel — which most Dems disagree with… and gives a nod to a “delicate ceasefire” even as people in Gaza are still killed by Israeli bombs daily.

Liam made people look. Now don’t look away.

We still have children in ICE custody eating bad food, drinking questionable water, living in filthy conditions, and carrying a lifetime of trauma they shouldn’t have to survive.

That so many sheep accounts I follow on IG have to tell the peoples that wool is a renewable resource, that sheep must be sheared so as not to die, and that they aren't *skinned* makes my farm person head want to explode.

This is what ICE tells a young woman they tossed out into dangerously freezing temperatures after four agonizing days in detention at Whipple.

I think I'm going to have to mute the Epstein stuff. It's getting inside my head, a head already prone to the Horrors wealthy men do, and it's seeping into parts of my life where I don't want it.
There's a reason every religious tradition preaches that evil comes with wealth. And this is real evil.

I grew up in the horse business, so things come across my IG feed. This morning? A riding gear company from Ocala, posting about how the entire industry runs on immigrant labor and whether or not they "have papers" is a gross thing to ask. Replies surprised me! 90% positive! From rich horse people!
