Today the city of St. Paul, MN, told ICE to cease and desist using city parking lots to stage raids.
A lawyer for the city lawyer for the city threatened legal action, saying St. Paul “will not hesitate to enforce those rights in the event that you fail to cease and desist.”

Jacob Frey knew he’d lose this vote, so instead of letting City Council grant basic protections to some of our neighbors most vulnerable to ICE raids, he’s playing games to prevent a vote.
The City Council scheduled an override session yesterday to consider the Mayor’s vetoes. Instead, Mayor Frey waited until there were no more council meetings to prohibit an overturn of the humane encampment response ordinance (even though he said he would veto it last week). 1/

I’m at Albi Kitchen on Nicollet and they could definitely use more support these days. We need to work hard to keep our Somali-owned businesses afloat while the community is being targeted.

Last weekend we had Mama Safia’s Kitchen on Lake. The chicken suqaar, beef suqaar with ugali, and canjeero bread were terrific, and we also loved the green hot sauce. Next time I want to try Somali pasta. I highly recommend visiting!

Disheartening to see federal agents take two neighbors on 29th & Pillsbury. Chemical irritants were used on observers by them.
MPD showed up on scene, created a pathway for these federal agents to kidnap our neighbors, and assisted with controlling the space. Disappointing and heartbreaking.
