Looking back, it’s really funny. My bands opened for a lot of bands in this scene and it was pretty common for them to be smoking joints and drinking before like church lock-in shows. It was a scene that made them all pseudo-famous, but that they had nothing ideologically in common with.

Pedro The Lion & Dave Bazan > *coinciding with deconstructing my own faith*

I’m sure somebody has already made a YouTube documentary on this, but a People’s History of Tooth & Nail Records would uncover so many “gateway bands” that led Christian kids to secular music. 😂

Would it be more compelling for an underdog to advance from the first round? Maybe. But they have a better chance of doing that in a play-in game or a home-and-home series.

At best, you’re spending min 2/max 3 games to advance the better team to more compelling match-ups. At worst, you have Minnesota winning none of the 3 games in regulation and advancing anyway.
