The rich have us so conditioned to be arguing amongst ourselves about the scraps of a $20 minimum wage, that we seem incapable of clocking how perilous the economics of existing are for the vast majority of Americans making under $200K/year.
These threads always piss me off. Folks will acknowledge inflation, the decimation of the middle class, and still act like $140K/year makes you comfortably wealthy, which it fucking doesn’t.
1/ I may write something about this, but I've noticed some folks, notably Noah Smith, but others as well, deriding the $140,000=poverty in today's US guy.

So I thought I'd work out what a family of 4 budget would look like in my well-off Boston suburb (Brookline).

TL:DR--pretty damn tight...

My thoughts on @destinythegame.bungie.net Renegades thus far (about halfway through the questline):
- Dredgen Bael’s voice actor absolutely crushed. Top 3 Destiny villain for me immediately.
- The new blaster Hand Cannon with the Sniper scope absolutely cooks.
- The music team did an incredible job.

Danny was legitimately one of my favorite players to watch last year. Bummed to see him go, but he absolutely deserves to start somewhere and I hope he gets that opportunity in Mexico.
It looks like the Danny Leyva deal is done according to @elrolonw.bsky.social. We still don’t know an exact number on a fee, but there is a transfer fee. My educated guess is this nets the Sounders at least $1M in additional cap space. x.com/ELROLONW/sta...

There are a lot of really good and practical applications of automation and AI. I can’t think of a single one I’d apply to the arts.

Also, since @doctormorbis.bsky.social liked this, it reminded me:

I could never convince my friends that this was SDRE’s best album over Diary. Only that “Guitar & Video Games” was one of their best songs.

Related: My position has changed and I now think LP2 is my favorite SDRE album.
What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

Dems didn't brand "white dudes" as the "bad guy" as Portnoy suggests. We branded people who support a toxic, hate-filled convicted felon who abuses women and lies constantly about everything as the bad guys, and they just happen to be disproportionately white men.

Honestly, I hope Clinton and Trump are prison roomies for the remainder of their days. Bring it on.
"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

Dunking on MAGA should be so easy in the midterms. On the economy alone. But I’m sure the Democrats will find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

We’re less than 24 hours away from Extra Life Game Day, where I’m raising money for Seattle Children's.

Would be honored for the financial support if you’re in a position to give.

If not, stop by the Twitch stream tomorrow and help us signal boost.
