Texture in the foreground was a good call so we can visually parse the layers better. I like the strong contrast of yellows and blacks. What cropping options have you experimented with? You might get more visual movement if the bird was off-center.

I read it and thought, “My fellow Unitarian Universalists would love this poem. It could easily be a reading during the service.” And, I think if the poet, still preaching (through pen if not pulpit), is not so lapsed as claimed in the bio.
