This beautiful #Roman enamelled copper alloy flask in hexagonal shape was found in Welzheim.
The small vessel was a product of a workshop in Britain or Gaul and was presumably used to hold perfume.
Dating 2. century AD.

18 months ago I was photographing birds in a US national park when someone jumped out of a car in front of a dozen witnesses, put a Glock to my forehead, and demanded my camera.

This shot is from my first time out birding after that.

Living like this is a deliberate choice.

Clay goblet from Early Bronze Age Troy.

Known as a depas goblet after the Homeric ‘depas amphikypellon', recent residue analysis shows these two-handled vessels were used for drinking wine some 4,250 years ago!

An almost 6,000 years old wooden cup, found in the Late #Neolithic pile dwelling settlement of Hornstaad-Hörnle at the Lake Constance. The waterlogged, anaerobic environment provided ideal conditions for the preservation of organic materials.

This small ribbed bowl is a fine example of early Imperial Roman glassmaking. It was produced in the 1st century AD and found in Trier. The vessel was formed from coloured glass with a striking marbled effect in dark and yellow tones.
Such vessels were prized tableware,...🧵1/2
