Visited a friend's place in Portland for the first time. Noticed a small crowd and thought a new food cart pod had opened... until I saw signs and realized my friend lives near ICE. Laughed my ass off bc these protests are so "violent" and "terrifying" that they made me want to have dinner there.

It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.

I got married bc of insurance.

Before the ACA, my gay best friend raged that I had no insurance. He kept saying, "If we were married, my insurance would cover you" until I finally snarled, "What, are you proposing to me?"

He decided he was. 30 years later, no complaints, but not romantic!

Murdock, catching a snooze but still keeping an eye cracked to make sure I'm not up to nuthin'...

So, I got laid off my from job at the Public Theater yesterday.

I'm going to be ok, but damn if that wasn't one of the best jobs I've ever had.

Any job recs in NYC people have would be much appreciated. DEI, Recruitment, or any Justice based work would be ideal, but I'm open to anything.
