Sorry to hear that. What helps me is the chessboard analogy. Picture your mind as a chessboard. Each intrusive thought lands on a square. Instead of getting caught up, observe it sitting there, separate from you - like watching a game from a distance.

It truly does. The cold hard truth is that the only way out is through when it comes to OCD. The gold standard of treatment (ERP) is quite literally a face-to-face battle with your fears. The ultimate boss battle.

Running away only empowers that boss.

I remember when my symptoms first set in, I couldn't watch 10 seconds of a show without pausing.

What helps me accept the uncertainty is repeating coping statements like:

- I know I’m obsessing when my thoughts start with “What if?”
- Analyzing my thoughts will only make things worse.
