I'll give them a chance one day, but 'ICP double album' is a bit of an albatross.

I doubt those being a double album across two releases helps. That's a lot of a time commitment, and is exactly where my listening to them thus far happens to end.

Did you listen to last year's Deep Entries: Gay Electronic Excursions 1980-1985? Vintage gay club music, for seedy establishments.

Can't just listen to this dude and his friends. I tend to think of the Memphis scene as a '90s bit, but I'm sure there's plenty after. Then we have Gravediggaz, Kool Keith, ICP level household names.

Past that, who do I need to listen to for that visceral forceful work that might raise my eyebrows?

...And He Shall Appear – X-Raided:
Listening to the other X-Raided release of 2001. Really good fun. Only problems are that a) the number of tracks I've heard on other projects is most of the tracklist + b) I'm listening to a pretty low quality rendition of its tracks in audio terms here, which may not have been the case elsewhere...

X-Raided presents – The Initiation [a Madman Records label compilation]:
Decided a noble aim would be to rank Horrorcore and similar albums of the year 2001, starting with people I know already.

Today's is The Initiation by X-Raided, which starts off a little like they didn't have too much to work with vocally from him. Somehow there were two albums from him that year 🤔

The quality control of this man's discography over time, with the circumstances in mind – but also for anyone on a demo tape budget level, is legit remarkable.
