In honor of Hades 2 launching today, I wanted to take a look at the way the roguelike gameplay is such a clever way to retell a story of the underworld.

It's a great way to kill Time. 😏

Hades II dropped today, and through the game's Rogelike descent and return, we're reminded that myths aren't relics of the past—they're living stories that continue to transform alongside us, holding space for new voices and perspectives while honoring the timeless patterns.

My take on Hades II:
Roguelike Rebirth: Hades II
How the game, Hades II, captures the cyclical nature of myth and creates a Crossroads of Past and Present through Greek mythology.

I'm certainly not the biggest Taylor Swift fan (I like some songs, but not all). But all the misogynistic rage I'm seeing towards her makes me wish I were a bigger fan than I am.

Only an administration intent on committing war crimes in the present and future would stoop to calling Wounded Knee a "battle" rather than what it truly was: a massacre of over 250 Lakotas, mainly women, children, and the elderly. 1/

Stuckey normalizes militant politics as “Christian,” while protecting the faithful from feeling un-Christlike.

It's slimy.

If a Christian celebrates a government actively harming people they consider enemies, it SHOULD make them uncomfortable.
mythicglass.bsky.social
The purpose of her post is clearly to squash any cognitive dissonance that bubbles up for followers of the faith when the government talks openly about "destroying our enemies," which contradicts the religion's golden rule of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
mythicglass.bsky.social
She's essentially saying: "Don't worry! You're still a good Christian even though you hate those who look different or hold different political beliefs. You merely SUPPORT politicians harming these people—you didn't personally inflict the harm—so keep that hatred burning without guilt!”

🧵 Outsourcing your vengeance doesn’t absolve your complicity.

The mental gymnastics of Christian Nationalism is astounding in how awful it is.

Allie Stuckey offers her audience comfort in their complicity, allowing them to hate others, even though their scripture tells them to do the opposite.
Stuckey's post on X that reads: "There was a big contrast between Erika's forgiveness speech and Stephen Miller's
"destroy our enemies" speech. Exactly as it should be. It is our job to forgive, not the government's. Christians give grace; the government wields the sword (Romans 13). We turn the other cheek; the government punishes evil."

Love scrolling and seeing a headline that says, “14 Greek Mythology Movies That Still Stand the Test of Time” and the main image is of the movie Troy.

So out of curiosity I wanted to see if the Watergate Hotel from the Nixon scandal is still around (it is).

And I saw they have a “scandal suite” for the room from the scandal and I shit you not one of the robes in the robe for guests to wear says “cover up” with the watergate logo.

Not me falling down a rabbit hole of finding every folklore reference in K-Pop Demon Hunters:
Minhwa Painting during the Joseon Era. --I'm still trying to find if this is housed in a museum and still trying to find more info on the art! A still image of the "derpy" tiger and magpie bird from the movie K-Pop Demon Hunters

Oooh yes! I had a similar experience in Catholic Church as a kid with communion and I asked if they really thought the little white cloth the priest used to wipe the lip of the cup after each person drank would actually get rid of germs.

Tree. Own it like Odin (Yggdrasil - Odin's Horse) or hack it like Gilgamesh.

Great thread tying the vandalism of the Sycamore Gap Tree to toxic masculinity.

Plundering nature for resources and as an external validation of a man’s masculinity: a tale as old as time.
timhowles.bsky.social
5. The incident was indexed to subtle tropes associated with toxic masculinity. As Rob Macfarlane helpfully points out, see the ur-text here: Gilgamesh and Enkidu swaggering off to fell the tallest cedar in the Sacred Cedar Forest, to prove their manhood.
