Half an Hour of M 104 ~ the Sombrero Galaxy this dark winter morning 🖤✨

Six months from now I’ll be creeping on sleeping bees in roadside sunflower fields at 5:30 AM in summer’s sunrise.
The sombrero Galaxy from an Astro photography telescope. There are multiple stars in the background. The galaxy itself is from edge on, so it looks like a dark line through a round ravioli, glowing pack of dense stars.

Always feels good when art directors approve a bunch of sketches to go forward. Five just in the last couple days! *whew* Illustration is (mostly) unrelated to post, but a different sort of victory in figuring out how to quickly create planets in Blender.

Cometary globules are gas clouds with dusty heads and tails, often forming stars. The rupture in CG4’s head is unexplained, and the nearby galaxy is unrelated.

Just took a walk outside as passing rain cleared off to offer a nice view of the night sky! 🤩
I could easily see #Orion, The #Hyades cluster forming the head of #Taurus, with #Jupiter above, and the bright #Moon!

The brightest object in this view is The Moon. So bright that no surface features are visible. Lens flare beams away from the brightness of the moon. Below the moon to the right a little is a bright point of light that is the planet Jupiter. Continuing down and to the right is a "V" shape tipped over a bit to it's left. That is the head of the bull in the constellation of Taurus. Taking up much of the bottom left is the person shaped constellation of Orion, with all the familiar main stars visible. The upper left most red star is Betelgeuse, a red super giant. The three belt stars are also easy to see.
