Tonight, @tienpham.bsky.social and I saw The Hunger Games On Stage in London. It was phenomenal—the opening night/days critiques must have all been addressed because we had a glorious night in the theatre! #HungerGames

In my 1st semester of college (2003!), I had to present in my Introduction to Philosophy course. I was responsible for introducing the class to Socrates.

Being an education major and theatre kid... I opened by singing (a cappella) Socrates's lines that begin "The Tower of Babble" from GODSPELL.

I was able to talk with Dennis Shepard (Matthew Shepard’s father) tonight. He had Zoomed with our high school cast of The Laramie Project this past January, but meeting him in person was a joy. A true dad.

The Shepards & others have made progress in equity: we all must work to keep and grow it.

Intense Thursday as my Drama class finished viewing A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE and my 10th graders on ELA finished reading OF MICE & MEN aloud.

It was a classical kick-off to a year, and we’ll be exploring contemporary pieces next.

School’s back in session and sickness abounds. Just got my flu and #COVID vaccines. #health #BackToSchool

I noticed that my nails may make it easier for students to follow along as we read!

In our pre-service secondary methods class, we dove into UDL (and its intersection with equity and social justice). Students discussed the reading and then identified and added UDL elements from their first mini-lesson they presented the other week in class.

We’re starting the year looking at our storytelling influences. What has inspired us and what has shaped our idea of Story? Students wrote past influences, shared them on large paper, and are working in Canva to share their inspirations. We’ll build on them with our readings this year!

I stopped in our local Ollie’s, and look what I found: both of @runwithskizzers.bsky.social’s #Marvel Avengers Assembly books! I hadn’t picked these up yet, but I did today!

It’s that time of the school year where I get to catalogue our new supply and book purchases to get them out to my ELA colleagues. I’m grateful for a district that is able to budget finances for supplies. #leadELA #BackToSchool

It’s #BackToSchool! Tonight was the first class of my undergraduate Methods and Materials for Secondary Students course at Gannon University. The School of Education made a fun balloon arch and students from all majors posed under it throughout the day! Welcome back, everyone!

Getting some summer reading done at the beach before the start of the school year. I’m slightly ahead of #TarValonOrBust ‘s current episode of The Crystal Cave.

This season’s MABETH is bold, cinematic, and luxurious @stratfest.bsky.social. The technology, effects, and set are enthralling, and an older Macbeth absolutely worked for me. #SFMacbeth

I adored the visceral and cerebral production of THE ART OF WAR @stratfest.bsky.social. What is art? How is it shaped by the artist? Who gets to interpret it? This 5-person piece is moving and impactful. I had not known that Canada commissioned artists during WWII.

We viewed our 1st Shakespeare show today on our trip to @stratfest.bsky.social: #SFWintersTale. Powerful performances with the focus on this season’s “forgiveness” theme. Beautiful costumes; compelling performances!

I abridged the play 15 years ago and remembered more than I anticipated!

We had a fun time @stratfest.bsky.social seeing DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS! This morning, I joined a Song & Dance workshop where w learned some music and choreography—it’s been at least a decade since I did a musical! What a delightful time!

Erin Shields’s RANSACKING TROY @stratfest.bsky.social is brimming with mythology of the Iliad, Odyssey, & Greek tragedies. Threads, constellations, forgiveness, power, gender, adventure… there is so much happening that the 9-women cast propel the audience through! #SFTroy
August 6, 2025 at 9:34 PM
We saw #SFForgiveness @stratfest.bsky.social: a moving, important work of theatre about the Japanese-Canadian internment in WWII, based off Sakamoto’s memoir FORGIVENESS.

Director @staffordarima.bsky.social also helmed @georgetakei.bsky.social’s ALLEGIANCE.

Phenomenal, moving performances.
