He makes one mistake more: he does not cover his tracks when he makes his chaste little pilgrimages to worship his new master.
When he slips into the girl's dreams with that ever-needling whine trapped under the breath he holds, Fen'Harel leaves traces of his magic. No doubt meant to be protective. That one has always wanted to protect, as though it is his purpose. Laughable.
The traces shine like Arlathan's glory in full sun, concentrated around her as though her insignificance could weight a foci, proof the mutt of Mythal never stays away long. His presence glitters in a mass around the shape of her, so bright no true elf would mistake her second skin of not-quite-fingerprints for anything but a god's favor.

It makes her very easy to find. When Elgar'nan is free, he slips into the girl's dreams, too, and talks to her gently of the naked hope in her heart.
She is suspicious, but not well protected, not well warded or informed. He coaxes her with sweet scenes and even censors his representation of the Dread Wolf into something unmangey and pettable. Quickly, she weeps.
This girl is no Evanuris. Appalling taste, to be so swayed by Fen'Harel, and perhaps not very bright. But because she is so enticing to his enemy or because there is some charm in her that speaks to him, Elgar'nan is not offended. Like many before her, if she relented in her foolishness he would embrace her warmly and keep her safe. Perhaps seat her on a soft pillow, close to his dais. Allow her the honor of filling his cup and eating from the bones and vines he discards. He could push plump grapes between her lips, and his finger to the second knuckle until the tip rests on her juice wet tongue and she waits for his order.

He catches something in a dream that makes it more clear: she, made millenia after his imprisonment, is marked for him. He laughs in the Dread Wolf's voice to learn it, and she smiles prettily enough within the net of his design over her face, though her eye contact is disrespectful. Elgar'nan reminds himself she does not know better and her only teacher has the worst manners imaginable. Perhaps she can learn, if offered the proper guidance. She would be even prettier showing deference. He can think of nothing more beautiful than the Wolf brought to miserable, brokenhearted heel.
That seals her fate. Elgar'nan, Sun Incarnate, will not haunt her lonely dreams in disguise much longer. He will elevate her beyond her wildest imaginings and then show her to the Dread Wolf at an opportunity sure to soon come. He'll run to find her and sniff at the edges of the forest of her dreams. She still glows with his attention, though not his touch.
Elgar'nan will never understand Solas' obsession with suffering, but he is happy to supply it.
That cur will never stay trapped long.
