Cake flour is finely milled with a low protein content.
Baking Powder is a leavening agent that gives a light, fluffy texture to baked goods.

The sandwich was made with a spread of walnuts or pecans, chopped with chopped olives and mayo.

There was but cookbooks just didn't account for that. The home cook knew where to make the necessary adjustments.

The numbers are the recipe numbers in the book, so you can easily find the recipes.

Please remember that the "French dressing" is more of a vinaigrette than what we consider French dressing today. Also, in 1943, a salad was basically anything served on lettuce. 🤷🏼‍♀️
