It is important to recognize that a president who takes bribes and a Congress that lets that slide was itself a Constitutional crisis.
Banning bribery was so important, the Founders had the Constitution forbid it three times, including as the only directly named impeachable offense besides treason.

I am now operating on the assumption that there will be no new cures or treatments for existing diseases and ailments. All we will have for the foreseeable future is what we already got or in the pipeline. If anything new comes along, we are screwed, with no protection whatsoever.
