Friends, this GoFundMe is, unfortunately, legit. Can’t talk about it now, but I’m sure posts about the absurdity of life are to come. Please share if you can. #EatonFire

I live in Santa Monica and this photo of me was taken at Palisades Park yesterday. The fires raged all night and continue to burn today. Many people have lost their homes, including possibly one of my clients, whose World War II novel I’m working on.

I’m working from a coffee shop ☕️ this morning. I needed a change of scenery to break up my routine and clear my mind. I love this cork-bottomed mug from Demitasse. There’s no clanging sound when I set it down.

“They wanted clean organs, clean blood, fresh polished skin. The chance to begin again. Afterward, they emptied into the steaming tubs and saunas, and laid their just-dunked bodies like soft noodles onto tatami mats in the relaxation room….” —from “Waterfall” by Elizabeth Lee, SANTA FE NOIR (2020) ❤️

I’m worried about my health insurance covering future care that I might need (currently with Blue Shield). Last year I was with Oscar, and they covered over $100K in medical procedures, including spine surgery, which they initially denied, but my doctor advocated for me and it got approved. 😅
