Big like generators have to be shut off because there's no way to get the power to the customer. Hurricane Sandy, the upstate NY cascade failure, and the really big cascade failure that I think started out of state (late 2000s), off the top of my head. And of course the classic 1977 blackout.

There's been 3 in the NYC region alone, but I will concede that the grid is very consistent. It is not growing, though, and the problem is not power generation, but transmission bottlenecks. Even with the rate increases, PSEG can not buy enough power. Taking loads off the grid will help with that.

Pakistan's solar growth is almost entirely individuals powering pumps, mills, and tiny home batteries. Grid usage went down there for the first time in history. But their grid is already crap, so get rid of it. Is US's grid so good now we should pay more to maintain stressed large regional networks?

I think nudism can be 2 different things: 1 is a long-held belief that I can/should be naked, and 2 is a break with the internalized gunk of civilization. Social nudism was helpful in that nobody commented on my missing bits. But, I wouldn't have been naked on a beach if I still cared.

I think there is some information in there that isn't familiar to a lot of people. Including that the US is currently holding three times as many people in immigration detention as were detained in the entire Nazi concentration camp system in spring 1939—six years into the Third Reich.

Thousands of people swam naked every summer in the Hudson River at New York City, well in to the 20th cen. There was an entire town that worked naked out in the mud of the meadowlands. All forgotten. Nobody in NYC now would believe that, but there are photographs. (Incl future president T Roosevelt)

Border Patrol has been stepping in front of cars in order to justify shooting the occupants since at least 2014. A D. Pres. has already not fixed this. bsky.app/profile/vivi...

2014! Another point as to how this is baked into the culture. A new president/congress will not change this. Only destroying the department will be enough.

There's a small but vocal group of Democratic Party superfans on here who think it's unfair to criticize the party but I think results speak for themselves. This current breed of Democrat has been in control for 50 years. What do we have to show for it

Glad to see 'repair' in reduce, reuse, recycle. I try to practice 'reject' as well. If you don't buy it now, you don't need to take care of it later.
