ME: The great thing about writing fantasy is that you can make stuff up!
ALSO ME: *spends twenty minutes reading about isopod pseudo-lungs to make sure it’s accurate*

I don't know about you, but this staghorn sumac fruit lying in the snow reminds me of a bleeding heart.

Writers, when you write a fantasy novel, do you visit castles/museums to immerse yourself in the surroundings of a bygone era? A visit to Kórnik Castle helped me notice details such as noble coats of arms on the ceiling, furniture and cornice decorations, and portraits.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. #177:
Be realistic in setting your goals. Small, achievable writing goals (eg 300 words a day, rather than 3000: ) are best for keeping you motivated - and remember, even 300 words a day adds up to a first draft within a year...

Whenever I plan to walk the dog at 7am and then sit down to write, something unexpected happens. Like my dog wakes up at 6 (way too early!😩) or she throws up on the carpet 🙄

This time it's not procrastination!

#Writers! How do you deal with burnout? I have at least 2 wonderful stories in my head that I would like to write (or rather, that they would magically write themselves) but I can't bring myself to sit down and write.

I'm new here, so I thought I'd say a few words about myself. I'm a fantasy author and have published 2 books (duology). Although book 1 of the series qualifies as YA, it can appeal to all ages.
