A Brief History of Men are Becoming Less Manly

How do you get a visiting lectureship? Do you ask people you know? People you don't know? Co-authors specifically? I'd really like to have one and feel like there are probably answers to this question!

Our horror at the genocide in Gaza, at the mass murder of civilians on Oct 7 2023, and at today's atrocity in Manchester, comes in each case from the same, inherent part of our shared humanity. We need to assert that shared humanity as loudly as possible, and in as many practical ways as we can.

Very excited to be attending this talk by Patricia Owens about Erased: a history of international thought without men.

Thanks so much @researchspin.bsky.social for organising!

Today's film is Three Days of the Condor, with Robert Redford. Other Redford recommendations welcome, as I've not seen any of his films!

I'm on my morning commute for my first day of the new academic year and I just got to pet a dog. A+ start, I think we can all agree

I'm in Sicily and yesterday we visited Mount Etna. I loved it!

I've been there and they are AMAZING! I hope you have a great time!

8) Do I understand what is happening? Absolutely not. Will I enjoy it anyway? Absolutely.

7) The USA Australia game was super exciting and I'm really looking forward to watching more rugby!

6) In the England Samoa game, I found the constant commentary about motherhood to be quite jarring. I've never heard anything like it before in women's or men's sport. I can see what they were aiming for, but... no thank you.

2) I love that women are supporting women - great to see Chloe Kelly in the audience at the England Samoa game. 3) Ilona Maher (and her immovable lipstick)😍 4) I love that when the game ends, both teams get together to say nice things about each other?!

The women's rugby world cup is on now and, as I enjoyed the football so much, I'm giving it a go. Here are some unasked for opinions: 1) the ref should wear a mic, and clock should be stopped for injury in football too
