“I ain’t dead yet!” The dearly beloved Dolly Parton creates a “proof of life” video, assuring those who adore her that, even though she is dealing with some things, she is fine and still going strong 💛

Long live Dolly Parton ✨📚

Honestly, our conversations around utopias and dystopias don't really hit the mark. If "dystopian" is keeping you away from a book, I'd encourage you to think carefully about what utopia really is.

Trust me when I say y'all should read this book. And here's a good reason not to get it from amz.

Why, hello. @bookshop.org has free shipping at the moment because whatever about that one site.

Thank you for explaining this. I've seen non-Black people talk about migrating and thought they didn't understand or respect the blacksky experience. You and Rudy have been tremendous at explaining what you've created.

Maybe we’ll get some shit done✨

Same! I watch people look at their smart watches a zillion times...no thanks.
nathandunbar.bsky.social
I'm also a staunch proponent of no phone notifications except texts and calls. And my text notifs don't show content, just that I received one.

Do you want your phone/watch going "excuse me excuse me excuse me hey you" every 5 seconds?

•Turn off all notifications except calls and texts.

•Raise your bike seat. It’s probably too low.

•Lower your arms when you run. Fists down by your hips.

•When you walk your dog, do solely that. Don’t be on your phone. Spend the time being with your dog and out in the world.

Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

Save money every paycheck, no matter how small the amount. I had a manager/mentor in my 20s who, upon hearing me talk about paying my bills, asked me "did you pay yourself?"

Me, blinking: "huh?"

Him: "You worked hard for that money. Are you going to pay yourself for doing it?"

Me: more blinking.

I had the same thoughts a few days ago. Nature is right there!

I cannot wrap my head around how so many people walk around with faces in their phones, earbuds in. How much stimulation do you need? You've got a gorgeous doggo out for a walk and you're not even enjoying it. Look at nature! Play with your dog! Enjoy some peace! Separate from the world for awhile.

Hey did you know that this is what artichokes look like when they bloom?

Also did you know that artichokes will grow in Canada because I didn’t
A hand holding what looks like a dried-up brown artichoke, but the whole top is a vibrant purple Pom-pom Same photo with a different angle, showing more of the purple Pom-pom

I had the good fortune of reading @erikaswyler.bsky.social's WE LIVED ON THE HORIZON before it came out, but rereading it this week to prep it for class made me love it even more. It's so smart, so well-written, so well-built. First class discussion today!

Cuomo is on The View now, and has said "extreme" and "socialist" about a dozen times in the first 5 minutes when talking about Mamdani.

Full moon. Warm breezes on the deck. Brittney Spencer songs. Burnt City brewing's Party Hard Soda (a hard ginger ale that's OUTSTANDING. Not sweet at all, it has a bitey ginger forward note that's incredible).

And my B. 💜

It's a good way to forget about the world for awhile.
