Mostly here because the bird app became a dumpster fire. Also right now I have to use "like" as a crude form of bookmark, so it doesn't always indicate approval, just "I wanna be able to find this later".
Welp it looks like I'm back to "like" as a crude form of bookmark. 🙄

I know some people say that questioning details about horrific stories is a way of downplaying or denying the horror, but it’s really not: wartime propaganda is corrosive and insidious and a tool for manipulation, and truth is worth caring about even in the face of utter tragedy.
So yesterday, a lot of ppl shared a claim that 40 Israeli babies were decapitated at Kfar Aza, a kibbutz near Gaza. Here’s a bit of insight about how we approach a claim like that as reporters:
1) Figure out where the claim was coming from. In this case, it was a single Israeli TV reporter.

One of the lessons that I thankfully and painfully learned fairly early on is that there are people who know way more about any specific topic than you.

It's a good idea to figure out which ones and pay attention to what they say.

This is a wonderfully unrealistic expectation. People have absolutely no idea what runs on their own computers, or why, or how any of it really works. It's just that simple.

Besides, in this case people do have control. They can choose ads or to pay for no ads or just not to watch at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️
No. There's an objection to anyone telling people how their computers should work, especially when that includes a known vector for malware. People should be allowed to control what runs on their own computer. It's just that simple.
