Seven new-to-me movies in one weekend! GODZILLA MINUS ONE - what took me so long to watch this I don't know - is brilliant.

How did I make this list? It's a combination of Best Picture nominees from the last 10 years, and a random assortment of movies that I can't watch in front of my children. Then I sorted the list into movies I could watch for free on my streaming subscriptions, and ones that have to pay for...

Treating myself to a Movies For Grown Ups Film Festival this weekend, all the movies I should have seen years ago, plus the brand new Knives Out mystery WAKE UP DEAD MAN...

Just as there are movies that don't look like Christmas movies at first glance, there are also obvious Christmas movies that lack any Christmas spirit at all. RUDOLPH is anti-aspirational: it makes me happy we don't have to live like that.

I like to think that I'm not ginger-blind, but just now I kinda sorta realized that Karen Gillan and Felicia Day are two different people

The first, best joke in TIME BANDITS is how it opens with the cast credits, listed alphabetically, so the first thing you see after the HandMade Films logo is:
JOHN CLEESE
then
SEAN CONNERY

I am a staunch progressive, BUT if the Post offered me a job writing pun-filled headlines for their newspaper, would I take it?

I clicked the microphone button and Googled "who owns New Line Cinema", but Google assumed "new line" was a meta instruction, like I was telling it "start a new line", so it left those words out. I had to *type* my question in to get my answer (Warner Bros) SO DUMB

HOT TAKE: I am a lifelong cat lover who has zero interest in your cat posts. I'm sure they're delightful.

Stuff Googled while reading DEATH OF AN EXPERT WITNESS (1977) by P.D. James (first 40 pages):
🫖Aga hob
🚗 1975 Morris Miror
🏁 tessellated
🐢 "polo neck" sweater
🪨 clunch field
A slow start compared to the first three Adam Dalgliesh novels I've read, but the pace will pick up, I'm sure.

I just checke, and confirmed it. Another episode of that same season, Bart vs Australia, is presented properly. I just watched the Bart's Comet with my son a couple of days ago, and I'd like to think I would have noticed if it were cropped in like that, so I'm betting this is a newly introduced bug?

Seinfeld S4E13 "The Movie" all the business in this plot feels like ancient history: Sold out movies, no assigned seats, not being able to call/text people, paying your friends back with cash...

Seinfeld: File Under "Televisions were a lot smaller than the 1990s"? The New York skyline backdrop in Calvin Klein's office looks terrible on a 55" television. You can even see the corner where the image mirrors itself at the back of the set S4E12: "The Pick" @netflix.com

After my 10-year-old son kept pointing him out to me, I learned today that this #Simpsons character's name is Corporal Punishment, he's an enforcer for Krusty the Clown. He appears in 10 episodes across 35 seasons...

In 1994 I was an intern at WFNX, Boston's alternative rock station. Here is a photo of the fax that was taped up in the studio, including the translation of the chorus of "Loser"
