I took part in the RSPB’s #BigGardenBirdWatch and counted 8 birds.

Great Tit 2
Magpie 2
Robin 2
Blue Tit 1
Woodpigeon 2

A low count for me but the first at this house after moving last year. So my wildlife garden hasn't got going yet.

Yday I was listening to the brilliant Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, from 1978. Douglas Adams saw it all: the awful fake chattiness & uselessness of ChatGPT, Alexa etc & how over-confident the algorithm designers are. “Genuine People Personalities” was a joke, but it should have been a warning.

This is one of my favorite Taskmaster things ever and a great example of what raises it from a good show to a great show. There are so many clever and just very impressive little touches that are so go easy to unnoticed. From set design to music choices it all just works to elevate the whole show.
In S17 of #Taskmaster, Nick Mohammed dressed as a vampire for his tasks. The production scrubbed all his reflections when he's dressed like this, but the only way I knew is because someone told me about it. It's subtle and very cool.

#30DaysWild Day 1: spotted my first juvenile blackbird of the season, foraging on my #NoMowMay lawn. A female blackbird was nearby, clearly having more success; as she had a mouth full of worms, before heading off to a nest.

Spring reminder, as people start to think about gardening: NEVER buy compost with peat it in (inexplicably still on sale). If it does not say "peat free" in big letters, do not buy it. Peat is incredibly valuable in peat bogs, for rare biodiversity and as a carbon store. Don't put it on your garden!
