Just bc a book contains a protagonist between 10 and 30, especially a female protagnoist, doesn't mean it's YA. Just bc the book is written by a woman (or someone you incorrectly assume is a woman), doesn't make it YA. Just bc a book is fun, written colloquially, or has romance doesn't make it YA.

YA alternative history/fantasy. One of those books that might not have been a 5⭐️ read at another time but really hit all the right spots in the here and now. Unique magical premise (magic flowers) was the hook, but also loved her take on the bad guy.

This one has been on my to-read list for a long time. Listened to the audio. Delightful middle-grade mystery with just a hint to magic.

Middle-grade fantasy that lives up to the hype and is definitely now one of my top recs re: what to read instead of HP. (Delighted that it is going to be a series that appears to follow the one year time skip format.)

Read the ARC. Elemental magic, a competition with trials, courtyard intrigue, mean girls...this was very reminiscent of 2010s YA in all of the best ways! Out 6/3.

Listened to the (American) audio. I think I liked this one even better than the first! On to the trilogy ender.
