I can't really explain fully why this is the thing of all things that got my jaw on the floor but I guess it's such a literal symbol and also such a jaw dropping amount of money while small businesses are struggling to survive the tariffs

Such a visible "go fuck yourself"
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

Just bc a book contains a protagonist between 10 and 30, especially a female protagnoist, doesn't mean it's YA. Just bc the book is written by a woman (or someone you incorrectly assume is a woman), doesn't make it YA. Just bc a book is fun, written colloquially, or has romance doesn't make it YA.

A quick FYI: They have *just* relaunched the online NPR shop with bunches of new stuff, plus some throwbacks and, of course, the Tiny Desk hoodie. So if you are that kind of public media person, there’s some stuff to check out! shopnpr.org

Going to the library fucking rules. You can walk in and pick your favorite things and then walk right out without paying anything. It's unbelievable and 100% the kind of thing that won't exist in the future unless you recognize the goodness now before it's too late
Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Oh by the way, don’t forget you can ask your library to order nearly any book you want to read but don’t want to buy. And as authors we love libraries buying our books & readers being able to access them through libraries.

Hey, who wants something nice?

So I was on tour this month, and when I was doing my event for the Princeton University Library and the Princeton Public Library, I ended up at the graveyard, where I found this gravestone:

I actually didn't know this about the NMAAHC. Donating now.
"It’s good news, given that the National Museum of African American History and Culture is not a federal institution and is principally funded by donations. Only a small portion of its financial support comes from the federal government."

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

"do audio books count??" what are you even talking about. count for what. read books with your eyes or listen to them, who is keeping score. enjoy a great story, entertain yourself, feel inspired, pass the time. art is not meant to be a competition with an imaginary score-keeper.
