TIL, via the @danaschwartz.bsky.social podcast Noble Blood, that Peter Weller (aka RoboCop) is also a historian of Italian Renaissance Art and I'm so shook I can't even come up with a good joke about it.

"do audio books count??" what are you even talking about. count for what. read books with your eyes or listen to them, who is keeping score. enjoy a great story, entertain yourself, feel inspired, pass the time. art is not meant to be a competition with an imaginary score-keeper.

Paintings featuring Agnes Sorel with a breast exposed were using her as a model for a classic type of painting known as a "Madonna Lactans," or "Nursing Madonna" -- paintings featuring Mary nursing the infant Jesus.

I've seen a fun fact going around the internet that Agnes Sorel had her dresses specifically tailored to expose her favorite boob. Unfortunately, that seems like an unsourced misconception.

This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position.

Google his name and the entry below comes up. When you click, you'll see the page has been deleted and the URL changed to include "DEI medal."

there is a troublingly large collection of movie where an adult woman falls in love with the joie de vivre of a man with the mental state of a child, and, as an adult woman, I can tell you that a childlike state of wonder combined with an inability to do basic tasks is not actually an aphrodisiac

Elf is a great movie, and one of the most recent additions to the canon of iconic christmas movies, but I cannot get onboard with the love story. that man has the energy and vibe of a child and zooey deschanel should not be fucking him!!!

This article is the saltiest personal takedown I have read in a long time! A joy to find a genuine hater in the wild (complimentary) www.nytimes.com/2025/03/07/b...
Do You Like Your History With Imaginative Leaps or Grounded in Fact?
Novelized accounts of historical figures’ lives are hugely popular. But do we really want to draw back the curtain on history and find people talking and acting the way we do?

dazzled by the clearly one-sided hatred that Jeremy Strong has for Kieran Culkin. I just *know* in private, Jeremy Strong has called him "a clown"

this is so meaningless, but the "you can do anything" "I know" exchange from WICKED that they used in the trailers and in the Oscar montage is NOT IN THE MOVIE!!! They cut two different scenes together! The "I know" is from the middle of the dialogue part of Defying Gravity! trailer fraud!

seems like one of those "personal liberties" he's such a fan of would be letting writers write whatever opinions they want?
Holy shit. Jeff Bezos is turning the Washington Post editorial page into.... the Wall Street Journal editorial page.

The right wing woman is not insincere in her politics, but she *is* tactical: she believes that sexual and reproductive service to right wing men will earn her their protection, affection, and material support. She is wrong.
