I hope so. I fear that it will end up being business managers and technicians with no room for engineering

We could have been workers like radiologists and instead we’ll be workers like radiographers, and that is a bad thing

Similarly thing works for microwaves too - add a little lemon juice to make it smell nice afterwards

Repealing RSB and having a CGT are good, but it’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the damage of the last couple of years. The attacks on TPM are pure bad politics

I don’t think they’re going full right, but they’re definitely moving in that direction. I want to see full throated calls for funding health and emergency services, building houses, and supporting Māori and trans folk. Instead we’re getting luke warm promises of financial moderation
November 29, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Agree. I don’t blame Whanau at all for stepping out, but the timing made it hard to find and promote a green candidate, especially given Little’s name recognition
November 29, 2025 at 7:38 PM
And I’m terrified because the media environment here is the worst it has been for decades, probably longer, and only looks to be getting worse
November 29, 2025 at 6:19 PM
It feels like we’re at such an inflection point - we could pull the country back into the moderate left it has oscillated around for the past twenty years or so, or move categorically to the right following the US. I fear that Hipkins is absolutely the wrong man for the moment
November 29, 2025 at 6:16 PM
The right the election after. I think we’re seeing it locally in Wellington, but I’m hopeful we’re left leaning enough that a good candidate could pull it back next time round. At a national level, a bad labour government could screw is over for decades.
November 29, 2025 at 6:16 PM
The worst thing is I think Little and Hipkins will probably support the changes next year rather than rolling them back or doing something better because they are suck mediocre, vision-less blancmanges
November 29, 2025 at 6:09 PM
It will literally make life worse for Hataitai and Newtown. They should turn the ruahine st junctions into roundabouts and spend the rest of the money on buses.
November 29, 2025 at 6:09 PM
Changes will be bad for local communities. That road is a link from the city to like 4 suburbs and the airport. It’s a local road with an SH number, not a real highway. the improvements help maybe 2 of them and the airport, but by absolutely tiny degree. And for so much money!

Yeah, I think getting ai code reviews is a good use. It is remarkably good and finding even subtle bugs. Still need a human review because it misses a whole bunch of stuff, and yeah lots of false positives

as the best or only way to use it)

with the latter.

It seems like the people who are really benefiting from AI are the ones who have done the former but developed the skills for it to be almost like the latter. But a lot of the bad outcomes and frustration come from trying to just do that (abetted by the AI companies promoting that
November 27, 2025 at 7:00 PM
discussing AI, the two are confused. In particular, the former seems a perfectly reasonable, incremental improvement to most people's workflow, where the latter is a paradigm shift. I think that a lot of the real improvements come with the former, and a lot of the hype (both good and bad) comes

There is some of this effect at surface pressure too- you can hold your breath longer with your face in cold water than dry, if you can stay relaxed- but the pressure makes the effect more dramatic
November 24, 2025 at 8:12 PM
Nope, pressure cause vasoconstriction and lowers the pulse rate, but the co2 absolutely sucks still

Oh, God, this is one of those "where do I even start" things, because Roblox is, like, *fractally* fucked. They are terrible at content moderation. A lot of the games are rated incorrectly, so kids can encounter graphic content (sex or violence) out of nowhere --
